I am pleased to announce that Carrie King has been named Senior Vice President and General Counsel for UTMB Health. The change, effective Dec. 1, reflects her expanding scope of responsibilities as the university’s chief legal officer and a member of our senior executive leadership team.
Ms. King has served UTMB since 2008, most recently as Vice President for Legal and Regulatory Affairs. As Senior Vice President and General Counsel, she will become the newest member of the university’s Executive Committee, which is responsible for major strategic planning, policymaking and direction setting for the institution. Other committee members include Executive Vice Presidents Dr. Garland Anderson, William Elger and Donna Sollenberger; Deans Dr. Cary Cooper, Dr. Elizabeth Protas and Dr. Pamela Watson; Senior Vice President for Health Policy and Legislative Affairs Dr. Ben Raimer; and Vice President and Chief of Staff Katrina Lambrecht.
In addition to executive leadership responsibilities, Ms. King will continue to oversee Legal and Regulatory Affairs, the Office of Institutional Compliance and the Center for Technology Management. Her broad-based expertise includes health care and regulatory law, hospital compliance, fraud and abuse, medical liability, physician practice and clinical research.
Please join me in congratulating Ms. King on her new and well-deserved senior executive leadership role with UTMB Health.
Dr. David L. Callender
