The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston - Texas Department of Criminal Justice Hospital (UTMB-TDCJ) is a general acute care facility accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).  The UTMB-TDCJ Hospital remains the first and only hospital specializing in offender care on the campus of a major medical center and teaching institution.  Located on one of the 15 campuses of the University of Texas System, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Hospital, in affiliation with the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston is dedicated to educating health science professionals and researchers, caring for patients, and solving biomedical puzzles through scientific inquiry.
