Under the direction of David H. Walker M.D., the UTMB Center for Tropical Diseases, has emerged a world leader in infectious diseases research. 

Here at the university and at field sites around the globe, our scientist (who represent one of the world’s most significant contributions of expertise in tropical and emerging infections
) are studying a vast array of bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic diseases. Among those are malaria, hepatitis C, tuberculosis, spotted fever rickettsioses, yellow fever, dengue fever, cholera, hantavirus and AIDS.
